Hazelwood and Fullwood reflect on Bathurst debut
Todd Hazelwood and Bryce Fullwood successfully completed Bigmate Racing's Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 debut, finishing a credible 20th position.

The duo were the youngest pairing to finish the 161-lap race, with the drivers reflecting on both of their respective debuts, with Hazelwood's first as a full-time driver and Fullwood as a co-driver.

Hazelwood was proud of what the team achieved at Mt Panorama.

"What a huge day it was at Bathurst—being my first Bathurst as a main driver starting and finishing the race was an incredible experience," Hazelwood said.

"Very proud of how the whole team worked together and performed on the day—the car ran faultlessly and the pit stops were fast.

"It was a shame to lose a couple of laps after Bryce ran off at Hell Corner, but fortunately we were able to get back on track ... finishing 20th is still a great achievement for the team, being our first attempt at Australia's biggest race."

"A special thank you to everyone involved who made the weekend possible."

Fullwood added that his Bathurst debut was a career highlight.

"For me this is a childhood dream, it's absolutely awesome to have finished the race," Fullwood said.

"Whilst I made a little bit of a slip-up, we still finished in front of some drivers and you can definitely end your day a lot worse around this place.

"With Bathurst being the pinnacle of Australian motor sport, I think everyone back home in Darwin gets around it and I've had a heap of messages and everyone from Darwin has come down here and seen me and wished me a lot of luck.

"The support has been awesome and I'm sure everyone at home is right behind me."

The team will now prepare for the Gold Coast 600 event, which marks the final instalment of the PIRTEK Enduro Cup, where Bigmate Racing currently sits 21st in the standings.

"Not a lot of time before the Gold Coast 600 and I'm really looking forward to seeing what the team and I can achieve there, which will be a local round for us," Hazelwood added.

The Bigmate Racing team will compete at the Gold Coast 600 on 19-21 October around the Surfers Paradise street circuit.
